Running Accomplishments:

I starting running in high school. In cross-country I did a 16:57 5k, 4:30 mile and 1:57 800.  I did a year of school and Delaware State University before transfering to BYU.  I walked onto the BYU track team as an 800m runner.  I lowered my 800 PR to 1:53.7 my first year.  I also did a 15:47 5k.  In the next year I set my indoor record at 1:55 but did not compete in the spring due to injuries.  After getting married and working I did not complete my last year of collegiate track running.

Short-Term Running Goals:

-Increase weekly mileage to 70 mpw.

-Run 4:05 mile/ 1:49 800

Personal:

I have been married for almost 3 years.  We are expecting our first child in July.

7 miles in 48:06 on the PRT. That is about a 6:54 pace I think.  I was really surprised.  I started the first mile at what felt like a 7:45 pace to warm up but I came through at 6:42...I had to slow up quite a bit.  I still dont know if I am just running too fast or if my base mileage and fitness are much better than what I thought.  I am starting to thinking the latter because I am in my third week of training, do not have any soreness and have been able to do all my workouts about much fast than I planned and am feeling great.  On Wed I am doing 3x1600in @5:40 pace w/ 800 jog in between.  That should give me a really good idea of where my fitness is.

7 miles on the Provo trail in 49:32.  Was a nice easy run in preparation of my 3/1600 on the track tomorrow.  I was running into the wind the first 3.5 miles but it was really nice running back.  Felt really good.  My legs were a bit tired.

Did 8 miles total.  1.5 warm up...3x1600...800m jog after each 1600 and then a two mile cool down.  My splits were 5:38, 5:35, 5:31.  I was supposed to be at 5:50 for each but I just did not feel like I was working so I kept picking it up.  This workout was supposed to really give me an indication of where I am in my training and I would say I am about 4 to 5 weeks ahead of schedule.  I was only supposed to do a mile cool down but I locked my keys in the car so I had to run home home to get the spare.  I walked back, so no extra mileage there.

On a side note, if anyone wants an extra runner for the Wasatch Back relay let me know.  I am looking for a team to join but have not had any luck yet.

6 miles. I ran on the PRT towards the canyon from my house.  I hate that run because, for some reason, when I am running along University Avenue on the road in front of the country club I seem to run super slow and I lose all energy.  Every time I run on this stretch of road this happen.  When I run on trails or other side roads I can run just fine....I guess this 1 mile of road is my kryptonite.I was actually kind of tired from yesterdays workout, so I took the run kind of easy.  Probably about a 7:20 pace, did not wear my watch.

6 miles in 41:55.  Kind of windy on the trail.  I am always amazed at how it seems the wind changes direction when I do.  There was a head wind going out and a head wind coming back. Legs felt good.  Feel almost 100% recovered from my mile repeats on Wed.

13 miles in 1:27:55.  Think that is around a 6:50 pace, dont really feel like doing the math.  Did a new run today towards the canyon then back on some random side road.  I am assuming my math was wrong because I came through at 13 miles in like 1:25 but I know that was not right, so I did another 3 minutes to be sure.  Felt really good and my last 3 miles was fairly quick.  Next week is all distance with not track or tempo runs, so I should feel well rested.  Really good week, my best in a long time.
