Running Accomplishments:

I starting running in high school. In cross-country I did a 16:57 5k, 4:30 mile and 1:57 800.  I did a year of school and Delaware State University before transfering to BYU.  I walked onto the BYU track team as an 800m runner.  I lowered my 800 PR to 1:53.7 my first year.  I also did a 15:47 5k.  In the next year I set my indoor record at 1:55 but did not compete in the spring due to injuries.  After getting married and working I did not complete my last year of collegiate track running.

Short-Term Running Goals:

-Increase weekly mileage to 70 mpw.

-Run 4:05 mile/ 1:49 800

Personal:

I have been married for almost 3 years.  We are expecting our first child in July.

I ran 8 miles this afternoon.  I have been building up my mileage the last 3 months and will have done 45 miles this week.  I have never been able to due more than 40 miles a week without getting injured so I have pretty excited.  I ran to the lake and back on the Provo trail today.  Averaged about a 7:15 pace.  Over the next two months I will increase my long run to about 13 miles. I really want to start doing some track workouts but am going to wait until April.  I don't plan on seriously racing until next years indoor season so I have plenty of time.  With my current fitness and how things are going I should hit my 15:30 5k goal for the fall which will be a good base for a 1:53 800 in the winter.

I ran 8 miles today.  4 in the morning and 4 at about 6PM. As I am

increasing my mileage I find it a lot easier to split my runs to limit

the wear and tear on my legs increase recover.  As I get closer to my

70 mpw goal I will increase the length and intensity of my two-a-days.

I did 4 miles at about 5:30 am.  I have to fly to Chicago this morning for job training so I wanted to get my running in early.  I got up at about 3:30am to finish my part of a business plan for the BYU Business Plan Competition.  My team has placed really well in the events thus far and hopefully we make it to the next round with this plan.  When I get to the Marriott tonight I plan to do my other 4 miles (treadmill.....ugh) so I am going to count it now.  There is apparently a really nice running loop by the hotel so I should be good in terms of be able to run while in Chicago this week.

I did a total of 40 miles this week, just don't feel like filling in each date.  I was staying at a Marriott in Chicago during my job training so did 20 miles outside and 20 on a treadmill.....It was really cold.  I wanted to do 45 but I can live with 40 considering I was traveling.

I did 4 miles in the morning and 4 at night.  My legs felt good but a little weird.  about 10 of my miles last week were below 6:30 and I think my legs just were not used to that pace.  My goal this week is 45 miles.  Next week I will move up to 48.

I did 6 miles in the morning at about 7:20 pace and did a little track workout with Andrew Martin at about 8 PM.  I did 2 mile warm up, 2 miles of 100 breakdowns and 1 mile cool down.  For the 100 breakdowns you run 100 then job 100.  We did 20,20,20,20,18,18,18,18,16,16,16,16,14,14,14,14,12,11.5.  This does not do much for my endurance but is pretty good and maintaining some speed.  I was really surprised I was able to run them as easily as I did.  It was not until the last 2 that I had to really work.  I guess all this mileage I am doing really does help.  I only planned on doing 48 this week but, if I feel good I may try for a light 50 miles.

My legs was so sore today.  I did 4 miles this morning and was not able to motivate myself to run at night.  I guess I will only be doing 47 miles this week now.  I guess the 50 mile mark was a bit premature.

Did 4 miles this morning.  My calfs and shins are killing me.  After 3 miles my legs finally lossened up, so I should feel ok for my 4 miles tonight.  That speed work on the track really took a lot out of my legs.  Energy wife I am fine, just my muscles are so sore.
